Predicting the Oscars...

So tomorrow night is Oscar Night. I had been planning on watching it live for some time now, but a few of my favorite bands are coming to town tomorrow, and I am still scheduled to work, so it is unlikely I will see the show until later that night. I will avoid as best as I can to see who won until I can watch it for myself. Regardless, I wanted to put together a little list of who I think WILL win tomorrow night. Not who I want to, or who I think deserves it, but who I believe will take home the statues. So here we go...

Best Picture- The Hurt Locker

Best Actor- Jeff Bridges

Best Actress- Sandra Bullock (sigh)

Best Supporting Actor- Christoph Waltz

Best Supporting Actress- Mo'nique

Best Director- Kathryn Bigelow for The Hurt Locker

Best Writing for the Screen- Quentin Tarantino for Inglourious Basterds

Best Writing based on Previous Material- Jason Reitman for Up in the Air

Now I understand that those are just the basic categories but I didn't care enough about the others to go in depth, although I know Avatar will get best special effects. I agree with most of the choices of who I think will win, except for Sandra Bullock. I would much prefer is Meryl streep took it, but that is looking unlikely at this point. I also wish we lived in a world where District 9 and A Serious Man had a good shot at winning, but I guess with all hullabaloo around Avatar and Hurt Locker, that would never happen. The oscars air tomorrow at 8/7 central.
